Designer/Printer/Businessperson/CSR

It is important for the client/designer relationship to really know the project. There are many details to consider when putting together a well ran process. When meeting with the client the designer needs to ask the important questions and have a good understanding before beginning. Before the designing process the designer needs to take the budget the client has given and find how the cost will be distributed. The things to consider with the budget are; the paper and its quality, the color processing that will be used, the kind of printer that will be used according to the job needed, and lastly the quantity of the product. Really knowing the materials and what you can get for your money can help make an aesthetic outcome of the project. Good communication with the client will make each decision easier to make sure they receive the best quality work from the designer. “Time is money, and money is time.” Sometimes the best direction to go with is where the cost can be lowered and time can be speared and still make for good quality work. According to “From Design Into Print,” this is the most important part of being a graphic designer. There will be times when a project is flexible and times when is has a fixed time. The flexible will give the designer more time for design and printing, but the fixed time could be over night where it is crucial to know the cost and how to distribute the budget to make time for designing as well. Being a designer is a lot more then just designing, its also being a printer, businessperson, and customer service all in one.
